DO I NEED A RELATIONSHIP ON CAMPUS

A campus is traditionally the land on which a university or college and related institutional buildings are situated. It is a place where knowledge is acquired however, other extra-curricular activities go on in universities relationship is the most common of them all. Having a relationship on campus is not bad depending on what the individual seeks to achieve with his /her relationship.

Now do I need a relationship on campus is a very deep question only for the serious minded. Need is more important than want; it is something you cannot do without. The question is can you do without a relationship within your stay in the university? If your answer is yes then you don’t need a relationship until you are mentally ready…. If no ask yourself why. Am I getting old I can no longer wait? Am I bored or lonely? Am I sexually starve or inactive? If you answered yes to any of those then you don’t need a relationship instead you want a relationship….

Being bored should not be the reason you are going into a relationship because if your partner changes you will want somebody else. It does not even show your love for the person rather selfishness because you are using somebody’s time to keep yourself from being bored and lonely and by so doing, you will be playing with your partners feelings… why play with people’s feelings of all the toys in the world.

So also, wanting sex should not be the reason for going into a relationship because when you are done getting the sex and you need love but he/she can’t give you start to look for it elsewhere thereby causing you to taste and compare partners. So also sex can break the flow of communication in a relationship so let it not be your ulterior motive to date.

Age: this is mostly common among girls when they clock 26 to 30 they begin to seek marriage instead of sometimes, I hear girls say “my mates are all married” you are not your mates! Age should not be the reason you are going into a relationship else you become desperate and may fall into wrong hands instead set your priorities right before going into a relationship. Trust me late marriage is better than quick but divorce be wise!

you don’t need a relationship on campus because a need is something you cannot do without e.g breath, shelter, clothes etc… relationship is a want and one should go into it when ready for it.

7 MISTAKES TO AVOID AS A STUDENT

1 - Not saving your income (no matter how small) :
Very important people, let’s say you receive a 5k monthly and you make a habit of saving 1k monthly , that’s 12k in a year and 48k in 4 years then 60k for a 5 year course. That’s enough to invest in something positive when you’re done with school. Offcourse this will require discipline.

How did I do mine? I opened an account that was say 15-20mins drive from my campus and destroyed the ATM card and withdrawal booklet, so when you think of the stress of going to make a withdrawal , you’ll have a change of heart.

Save your income, no matter how small…you won’t die!!

2. Not having lecturer friends :

I got this lesson quite late, the truth is you have an edge when you have lecturer friends, you get hints of upcoming tests, assignments and surprise quiz’s. They also are in the best place to guide you on course selection and registration since they’ve been in the system for years.

You may even get fortunate enough to help them mark scripts, I recall a dear friend of mine while in school marking scripts for his lecturer just happened to stumble upon his own script….don’t ask me what he did….whatever you would have done was exactly what he did, I assure you...(loL)

3. Having unnecessary relationships :

Offcourse you can have a relationship (Bf or Gf), if your mom works in shell, dad is MTN’S MD and your monthly income comes in to about 150 to 200k per month,

If not bros/sis, behave yourself and invest in yourself first, I’m always amazed to see a brother who is yet to eat well take a girl to a major city restaurant just to impress her. Dear bros/sis use that money to invest in books, Seminars, workshops, skill acquisition programs that will add value to your life as an individual. Don’t follow the crowd, remember where you are coming from and make a solid decision to distinguish yourself.

4. Not investing / starting a business:

Our parents tell us

“Don’t start a business while you’re in school focus on your academics alone”

That is a good advice, but not a great one, here’s a great one

“You should start earning an income if you’re above 16, with or without school”

Dear brother/sister you shouldn’t depend entirely on your academic qualification. I know of two friends of mine who started business when they came into school and by the time they were in final year, they practically had enough money to rent apartments for themselves and push their business to the next level. Personally I think it’s greatly unfair to still demand an income from your parents when you’re above 18, (most esp. if you’re a male…with beards).

Common, if dad and mom where MD’S of multinationals, that would be different. But if they are doing everything they can to keep you in school while straining their finances you should be mature enough to put on the cloak of responsibility. Choose to be a blessing and not a burden to your home and set an example for your siblings. Start a salon, fix nails, suya spot, popcorn biz, pure water distributor, typist, caterer, home tutor etc think and act, who says you can’t send money home at your 200 level?

Take responsibility and be an inspiration to your family and friends. (As for the 2 of my friends, 1 started selling zobo and making buns in the school hostel, the other became a bread distributor and fashion designer in that same hostel)

Their definition of broke was they had over 100k in their bank accounts as students..Self earned offcourse.

5. Not printing your results per semester/session
You shouldn’t do this , complications do arise at final year, your exam officer tells you that your TCU(Total Credit Unit) isn’t complete or you did not write a certain exam, of which your 150% sure you sat for. So always get the proof of exams you wrote and registered for , you registration course form, exam card, and definitely your result print out , don’t say you will wait till you’re in final year , make out time and get your printouts then ensure you keep copies of your registered course forms and exam cards. Including whenever you defer a course/ semester, or a year.

6. Cheating (if you must, don’t do it in your final year ABEEEEGGGG!!!)
It’s painful, very painful, for a student to be withdrawn in his or her final year after 4-5-7 years of assignments, tests, practicals and exams. I’ve seen it happen to a few people, some were very close friends.

I was never good at cheating, ever since I remember, as a kid I just wasn't good at it (I was born again in the womb you know..lol) but like seriously , if I was given (expo , chokes, etc)  into an exam hall , I would literary freeze!!!. If for instance 4 of us were to agree to cheat in the hall, I was always the one who got caught. I was what you called in Nigeria the (juu man) i.e weak hearted guy. But they were a few friends of mine who were legendary in the art, a friend of mine actually had the name “PHOTOCOPY” another, “XEROX”. They could copy your work and add commentary faster than you would have finished writing your answer. Some of them cheated their way to graduation (no joke), while others who weren’t so fortunate, got caught and were expelled. My point: if you got through with it through previous levels, please don’t do it in your final year and if you’re a new student: just read well and pray well, you will pass.

7. Skipping classes:
I think I mentioned this in an article before but anyways it can’t be overemphasized, as I told you in the last point I was a very serious student, but seriously I had no reason to miss some crazy surprise test and assignments (called shotguns) in A.B.U , because I was consistent in class. These tests and scores gave me an edge in my final scores, sometimes the thin line between a “D” grade and a “C”, or even an “A” or “B”. Make it habit of attending class consistently.

Hope yall enjoyed this; please make sure you drop a comment to keep inspiring you boy to write. And as I will always say …SUCCESS IS YOURS!!!

U.S.A knocks down North Korea's internet!!!

If you've been following the Sony, North Korea and the US government saga then you should know what this is about. But let me give a brief summary:

Sony Pictures released a movie called The Interview, a comedy about a fictional assassination of North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un.. North Korean didn't find it funny and hacked into Sony's computers, rendering thousands of computers inoperable and forced Sony to take its entire computer network offline. That wasn't enough, they then threatened terror attack on US citizens if Sony doesn't cancel showing the movie, forcing Sony to pull the interview from theaters and losing almost $200m. Then the US govt got involved and told Sony to go ahead and release the movie, that they don't take lightly to threats and promised to retaliate for the attack on Sony. It looks like they've kept their to promise. North Korea is currently offline. Lol

"Internet connectivity between North Korea and the outside world is currently suffering one of its worst outages in recent memory, suggesting that the country may be enduring a mass cyber attack a few days after President Obama warned the US would launch a "proportional response" to North Korea's hack against Sony
North Korea, which has four official networks connecting the country to the Internet -- all of which route through China -- began experiencing intermittent problems yesterday and today went completely black, according to Doug Madory, director of Internet analysis at Dyn Research in Hanover, New Hampshire." Bloomberg reports.

I find this so hilarious! Moral of the story, don't mess with the US. Will be MIA for a few hours

BANANA'S CAN MAKE YOU SMARTER!!!

Here are amazing things you should know about bananas.

Mental Alertness
Studies have shown that 3 servings of banana daily can aid in learning by making students more alert.
Students should snack more on bananas than on soft drinks and biscuits.

Heartburns and Ulcers
This are very uncomfortable conditions many people suffer from.
Bananas have natural antacids that help soothe the pain of heartburns and stomach ulcers.

Stress
Pressure at work or school leads most to high intake of fatty and processed foods like pies, noodles, chips, fries and chocolate. These foods lead to obesity and its related problems like hypertension, diabetes and cancer. Snacking on bananas helps avoid this

Blood Pressure
Bananas are rich in potassium and low in salt. This combination makes it good for blood pressure control.

Morning Sickness
This is the nauseous feeling experienced by some women in the first trimester (3 months) of pregnancy. Snacking on bananas between meals regulates blood sugar to avoid morning sickness.

Did you know?
A banana has 4 times the protein in an apple. It also has 3 times the phosphorus, 5 times the vitamin A and 2 times the carbohydrates in an apple.

Little wonder monkeys are quick, agile and alert. They love bananas. Lol

'A banana or more a day makes a lot of sense'!
