BOKO HARAM THREATENS BUK AND OTHERS , A.B.U BEEFS UP SECURITY!!!!!!!!!!!!

On sunday the 16th of march 2014, rumours where heard that boko haram (the insurgent group currently plaguing north eastern nigeria) were reported to have sent threats to various tertiary institutions ealier in the week : saying they would be attacking their campuses, on sunday while present in bayero university campus kano, i observed that the student population had dropped drastically as many were said to have fled school due to fear.

In a similar situation, Ahmadu Bello University beefed UP SECURITY ON CAMPUS AS our correspondence on campus reported, the campus suddenly being overun with the armed men in uniform and the university security agents placed in strategic locations all over the main campus, students were forcefully sent to their hostels while those who live off campus were told to leave the campus environs, (this didnt help really) as students became more frantic and tensed ....

since the acclaimed threat, entrance into the A.B.U main campus has become an herculean task as anyone going in or out has to present their id cards and have their bags thoroughly checked.

As much as i praise the security operatives for their swift response to a threat letter , it is pertinent to note that the means through which they handled the matter didnt create a calm and peaceful response, as students had began calling home in fear and the atmosphere only became more tensed than it already was, imagine your restriction to move freely taken away all of a sudden with absolutely no information.

i do advice on a more subtle yet strategic approach at such security threat letters as the university authorities should remember that a bulk of the students in the university are above 18 and are adults, letting them know that theres a security threat will aid quick dispersion and will also put the students on their side, to report any strange activity on campus.

LONG LIVE A.B.U , LONG LIVE THE  FEDERAL  REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA!!!
