A 26-year-old student of the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Famuyide Oluwafemi, was on Thursday arrested by the police for allegedly trying to smuggle a toy gun and one spent ammunition into the venue of the mega rally held by Governor Kayode Fayemi, who is seeking re-election in the June 21 governorship election.

Making the revelation in Ado Ekiti on Friday, the Police Commissioner, Mr. Felix Uyanna, said the 300 level mechanical engineering student will be charged for felony and robbery after the conclusion of the investigation.

Uyanna said the suspect allegedly concealed the weapons in his bag while trying to enter the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, the venue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) mega rally.
He advised youths to steer clear of thuggery, adding that the alleged arson on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) office on Tuesday is being investigated......

On the complaint by the state government that some billboards belonging to it are being destroyed by the opposition, Mr. Uyanna assured that perpetrators of such evil habit would be arrested soon, saying; “We also plead with the parties to refrain from using youth as thugs. It is the cause of these problems.”
